Vision and revision: don’t miss our final seminar (with daring URL)

At Victoria Mixon’s again, for the last in our current batch of editor chats. It’s been great fun doing the series, bouncing ideas back and forth with a like-minded writer and editor. Even better, commenters are saying our series is as good as a writing conference – so thank you for that!

Tonight our subject is ‘Vision and revision’, or the buckets of perspiration that follow a bolt of inspiration. We talk about brainstorming and developmental editing, the imaginative quarrying that makes a nebulous idea into a solid novel and how, in the midst of all that sweat we keep our vision fresh. Heady stuff – come and see.

(Thank you, Compujeramay on Flickr, for the photo) Plus Victoria was dared by a naughty tweep to give the post an outrageous and topical URL. No, I didn’t encourage her at all. Nothing to do with me.

Oh! Roz! I just had an idea–we’ll both be in the same place at the same time at the end of October. If our London readers would be interested, we should start talking about offering a real mini-conference for them. Pre-NaNoWriMo?

Gulp. What would we have to do? Ouch! Don’t kick me under the desk. Er, superb idea!

Well, a workshop rather than a conference. We’d just have to settle on a day & time & price and rustle up a place to hold it. However, as you have pointed out other places, that all takes time to arrange, and we do have books to write. Silly us!

        Here—have a bit of bubbly.

Jeramey, I appreciate your lovely photograph, and you for sharing it.

Thanks, the image itself though, the link should point at the URL I provided.

Sorry to be a pain in the ass, I need to make sure everyone properly cites my images though.

Ach – I’m with you now. Sorry, had no idea I was supposed to do that. Profuse apologies for not following the rules. It should work now. I realise my reply might have looked glib and I didn’t mean that at all – it really is a lovely photograph. And once again, thank you. Do tell me if it doesn’t work.

Your turn!
